Lots of work, little return

Saturday was good and Sunday was poor, but there was a small profit for the weekend.

I finished my business information sheet over the weekend. It contains my business name, mission, objective, aims and deadlines for the rest of the year. It's surprising how much you've got to do until you write it down on paper. The only part missing now is my job description.

Although I made a small points loss for the weekend I actually made a financial profit. That's something I'll be addressing by the end of the month, one of my short-term aims. Staking is too random, I follow some good tipsters so why should some be taking up more capital than others? The simple answer is they shouldn't. Take Skeeve who's had a good season, I'm staking quite low. Let's say I stake £30 per point, that would leave me with only £970 profit after paying subscription costs.

Some nice profits again for 4 Pronged Attack as well as Form Bet, but many of the other services didn't perform. Neural Bets and Northern Monkey Punter continue to worry me.

Until tomorrow

  1. Getting the staking right is the hardest part of running a portfolio as far as I am concerned. It's a fine balance between stability and tinkering too much.

I try and equalise my staking as far as possible in an attempt to ensure that I'm not staking too much on one service at the expense of too little on another. Always feel like I'm walking a tightrope though.

Will be interesting to see your thoughts. Keep going - as you're no doubt aware, I think a few of us have found the start of 2011 rather challenging to say the least!

    All the best,

    Rowan

  2. I'll be basing my staking on three factors: ROI, turnover and strike rate. Haven't come up with a formula yet but I have til the end of the month to sort it all out. I've always staked more with the so called bigger services, but my portfolio is made up of what I consider to be big services so there should be no bias, just intelligent staking.

Not a great start to 2011 no, should mean brighter times are on the horizon.
