Treadmill

The last few days have been like walking on a treadmill; plenty of work but we haven't gone anywhere. I have however, continued to invest time in bringing my research up together. I realised I needed an interactive football table, one that would show the table at given dates. The programming took about 4 hours but it's just how I want it now, and it's divided into Home and Away sections... it will enable me to see how teams have fared over given time periods and is a valuable tool. I'm not sure I'm going to carry on with the Form Lab Black software, it hasn't yielded the profits I had initially hoped for and some of the stats are not presented in the format I would like. Plus, there are some important bits missing and I can create my own spreadsheets that do exactly what I want them to do. It's a pity I can't program in other languages, otherwise I would create my own software.

Some bookmakers have paid out on Manchester United to win the title hence why Football Elite made 2.5 PTS over the weekend. I use the date the bet was resolved not it was made. Although R. V. Persie won't win the Premier League Top Scorer market he is now in joint 3rd with Darren Bent so we should be getting the E/W part on that. As for another two ante-post bets, we're on L. Messi and C. Ronaldo to be Champions League Top Scorers. With Anelka, Gomez and Eto'o all out the competition and Messi top goalscorer by 3 goals we should be looking at a winner. The last few months haven't been kind so fingers crossed for no last minute shockers...

I won't be placing any more football bets until next season now. I missed out on Football Investor's good weekend but am generally careful at season's end. The trades I provided to Centaur all won at the weekend but as I was away at Sandbanks on Saturday I didn't place them myself. I am quietly confident I can now make it as a trader, one of the difficulties I had a while ago was spotting opportunities, but with a little experience under my belt and learning from the types of trades I've been receiving over the last few months I'm hopeful it'll work out.

Only a few days left til May! And Equine starting up on the 30th too.

Real fed up

I'm not going to go into the victimisation rant today, but with all results taken out today and then Rotherham throwing away a 2-0 lead it was just another one of those days that's been happening all too often recently. When there have been winnings there have been bigger losses the following days.

The one positive of the last few days has been SYS who have really begun to turn around their initial losses. Mr Gekko Bets had a terrible day today with all selections losing, including the Rotherham one which was the icing on a bad cake. At only 11 PTS profit now for the season Mr Gekko Bets has seriously underperformed. Having been endorsed by the SBC without a full year's trial the service although profitable has left a lot to desire in all honesty.

I really am glad that I've got involved with doing my own research because I don't think my ticker could handle too much of these big ups and downs for too much longer. The quicker I get this research done the better really as that will surely help with motivation. Although I'm extremely grateful for tipsters, when they all go on terrible runs together it can become unbearable placing bets at times. It's the rule of probabilities and I understand that fully but even so it's my money that's just going, going, gone...

So, I'm off to the beach tomorrow to try and get away from all this. Shall be putting up a few Serie A trades over the next half an hour on Twitter.

New portfolio update

Happy to say that I'm fairly content with my new portfolio setup. I have adjusted my stakes as I was definitely over exposing myself to hefty losses. For higher turnover services such as Football Investor and Form Bet I have halved stakes. May seem a little over the top but as I've mentioned on here and on the SBC forum this is going to work, I'm going to make it work!

It's a pity the Football Investor selections on Saturday couldn't hold on as Darlington did tonight and as Hamilton did yesterday. I think it was when Morecambe let slip their lead in the 90th minute that I finally decided to do something about all these losses. It is illogical to run a business that doesn't make a profit.

So far so good, two of the services I've removed have carried on making losses and the services I've decided to move forward with have done just that, gone forward. I haven't been backing Equine Investments' selections that they've been sending out and I think that has saved me a little money too. I'll be backing the selections again from the 30th of April when the service officially resumes from the early spring break.

The research is going well, just a drag bringing all the data together now. I'm pretty nifty with Excel but still, there is a hell of a lot of formulae to get down and that'll take time. Having found at least two profitable angles thus far it's just a question of time before I find some more. Once the formulae do their bit and any high probabilities start appearing that'll give me the green light to explore more areas for potential rollout next football season. There's always something to be optimistic about if you're looking to be optimistic.
