Another tough month

The name of the game is to have absolutely no expectations. I assumed April would continue on from a very good March but it just isn't turning out that way. I've never seen so many horses finish second when we're on the Win bet and finish fourth when we're on the Each Way. Football teams not holding on like when Carlisle were winning at MK Dons with only 10 minutes to go. Anyway, can only get better!

Here are the results from Saturday til today:

Pro Bandit has gone nowhere since the beginning of November, a very poor set of results indeed. Fortunately having abandoned the NQs I've managed to save myself further losses, 2 PTS lost today. Form Bet is going on another one of their long losing runs, where we were at around a 30 PTS profit on Friday evening we're now at only a 10 PTS profit, but, it's a service I believe in and I'm sure it won't be long before we're on a big winner.

Football Investor had a terrible weekend, the only highlight being the Liverpool win. And good to see Football Elite getting some profits at last. The highlight of the last four days has to be the Accidental Bets. From what I remember a horse came in a 8.0 and bets I had accidentally put on Colchester and Athletico Madrid both won too, not all bad is it?

This brings me to another topic, the horses that have been coming in second and the football teams that have been losing late on, would they in a normal year win? By that I mean does it look like the service will under perform compared to its long-term ROI because of these near misses? Or, are these near misses part and parcel of a normal year. Without any stats at hand regarding near misses for the services I subscribe to I suppose I'll just have to assume. I suppose that when these seconds come in they can make it a bumper year for the service, when they don't come in it'll be a slightly below average year. Conclusion: maybe we need to be following services for much longer so that luck can really average itself out, I'm talking about two or three years instead of just the one. Of course, you wouldn't want to do that for a service that hasn't established itself, but for one that has maybe looking beyond one year is the answer, just a thought anyway.

The last few days have been dedicated to research hence why I haven't been on. There's still a lot to do but once it's up-to-date it'll be a case of just updating the spreadsheets at the end of every weekend. Still about another 10 days before I get the spreadsheets where I want them to be.

  1. Hi Kodagira

My thoughts for what they are worth with regards to the horses coming second affecting a tipsters yearly ROI, I think that it depends on how many selections the tipster makes.

if the tipster is very selective and only makes a few selections a year then they probably will affect his performance.

If the tipster gives out hundreds of selections the affect of a run of seconds will be minimal.

    Keep up the good work

  2. Hi Mark,

You're right yes as a high turnover can easily soften the blow from losers. Another factor to consider is the odds: the higher they are the more likely we are to see long losing runs, unless there's a hell of a lot of value in the higher odds of course.

    Cheers,
