It all turned sour...

I didn't have the energy to post last night so I left it til this morning. Yesterday was certainly one of those days whereby you need to remember when luck went your way.

Surprisingly there was a Points profit, but I can tell you now my financial loss was large. Strikeline's ante-post selection Captain Chris came in at 15.0; fortunately I had just upped my stakes to the current levels when I put the ante-post bet on so there was definitely a slice of luck there. Good to see Pro Bandit make a tidy profit for the day in the one race it was involved in and Champions League Bet came in with 2/3 winners.

Histon were winning 3-1 with 12 minutes to go, and only went on and lost 4-3, what a s**te team. It cost Football Investor 4.5 PTS. Rushden were winning at Gillingham and the game was called off at half-time, another slice of bad luck and another 2.2 PTS missed out on.

As for the horse racing, I don't really want to go there. Complete wipeout with 4 Pronged Attack and some extra bets that I included under My Bets all went to pot. The one bonus of the day was that I didn't place any of Neural Bets selections that were 4.0 or over which would have culminated in an extra 3 PTS loss. In the 17:05 Neural Bets had two selections and they finished 2nd and 3rd. As it stands if I'd have placed all selections that were 4.0 or over at the time of receiving the email I would be an extra 25 PTS in the red, would you not agree that it's time for Neural Bets to send out an email, at least giving an update on performance thus far? Shocking customer service.

A tough day but I'm sure the week will improve!

  1. Hi Kodagira,

Rushden were winning at ten-man Grimsby and not Gillingham before the game was abandoned in the 57th minute due to fog. As far as the "s**te teams" are concerned, that sounds a bit rude to the market that's been so good to us for quite some time now. These teams are Conference teams, mostly amateur outfits, not Premier League giants. Kettering's win wasn't a surprise, Histon two-goal lead was - if you saw my midweek e-mail, you know that Histon were in fact missing three first-choice players, all suspended, including their no1 goalkeeper. At 5.50 and with Kettering's poor home form in mind, FI's bet on Histon was probably a solid value bet, but that doesn't make depleted Histon favorites and the full-time result definitely wasn't a surprise.

    cheers,

  2. Hi Skeeve,

Of course, Grimsby not Gillingham, got my Gs all mixed up.

With regards to my comments from yesterday, I don't think they were harsh at all. We don't put bets on to lose. Yes, you had pointed out that players were missing but still, with 12 minutes to go and 3-1 up we would normally expect a positive result. With those 11 players on the field they had kept Kettering to one goal and scored 3 until the 78th minute, couldn't of been such a bad team.

Here are some stats that I looked at, starting from the beginning of the 2009/10 season:
    - Kettering have been losing by 1 goal at 78 minutes in 14 of their home games, of those 14 games 11 have been losses and 3 draws.
    - Histon have been winning by 1 goal at 78 minutes in 5 of their away games, of those 5 games Histon have won all of them.
    - Histon have been winning by 2 goals at 78 minutes in 2 of their away games, of those 2 games Histon have won all of them.

Not a great deal of games to go by I must admit, but those stats tell me a lot. The loss was a bad one, but today it's all water under the bridge and we move on.

Although your service has been doing well since the beginning of the year others haven't and this is the place where I let my frustration go. I'm no robot and must deal with financial losses as I see fit. I much prefer to rant here than to my wife and everyone has a choice whether they read the blog or not. Even though my wording can come up short at times I'm sure people out there, mainly subscribers, can relate to how I feel at times. This isn't an easy business to be in and the blog is my way of getting things out. English people have a tendency to bottle things up, I try not to.

    Thanks,

    Kodagira

  3. Quite right this is the place to let it all out. Any team 2 goals to the good with 12 minutes to go and get beat need shouting at. Easy to say long term results are all that matter but this must be the most frustrating week i've ever had in years of doing this seriously, as opposed to for fun.

  4. Hi Kodagira,

You're absolutely right - a rant on the blog every now and then is a much better 'therapy' than, god forbid, shouting at your wife or kids. Sorry if you found my comment unfair, that wasn't my intention.

Have you thought about not looking at the scores until the games are all over? I have to admit I can't do it, at least not with my own bets.

    cheers,
    skeeve

  5. Hi Skeeve,

I know you weren't having a pop, you were trying to defend the lower league and that's cool.

As for not following the games, easier said than done I'm afraid. As I'm getting more and more into in-play betting/trading I can't help but see the results, I do have a plan though as seeing results I don't need to know does sidetrack me.

    Thanks for your comments
