Hesitation cost me the points on the Trading tonight, I was just about to place a trade and Carlton Cole scored costing me 2 PTS, but I should have been in quicker. Pro Bandit with one non-runner and the dutching on the 15:30 Southwell didn't work.

The month couldn't of been more disappointing. Herbie Fogg has been very poor as has been Each Way Value and Football Investor. I will be cutting out my own bets and doing my best not to place any more accidental bets as together they've cost me 17 PTS

In hindsight I should have never joined horse racing services in November as racing can become inconsistent around this time of year. I never imagined losing 78 PTS from the services in the table but that's how it goes. In total I actually lost 99.2 PTS for all services which includes those that were taken off the table at some point, as per the graph below:

The golden coloured line represents this month and the blue the same month from last year. It does tell us that November isn't a great month but I never envisaged losing 100 PTS in one month. Obviously I need to take action: do nothing or something. I don't think I'll stop following any services just yet, some of them are due a good December now and I've been there before where there's been a bad month then a good one.

My focus for the forthcoming month is to primarily work on cleaning up the Trading as a couple of small mistakes here and there can be costly, it was literally 5 seconds that cost me those 2 PTS today... My aim for December is 15 PTS profit from the Trading, that might seem high but I'm sure I can reach that with ease if I cut out the small mistakes. In fact, I will cut them out, it's my early new year resolution!!

4 Pronged Attack has been marvellous this month as has PCB. I will be increasing my staking for both services at some point, probably after a small losing run. And it was good to see Conference North Bets and Champions League Bets coming in with some small profits. For the cost of subscription Champions League Bets is one of the best value for money services out there in my opinion.

We have Equine Investments starting back up tomorrow, I hope their poor run doesn't continue from September... and December is another month! Let's hope the run of bad luck stops today!!

Until December 1st!

  1. Hi Kodagira,
Sorry to see you losing so much in the month.
Unfortunatelly it happens very often that almost all services do not perform at the same time.
Mister Gekko's theory is that you diversify and one performs, the other doesnt and you get a smooth ride... well, sounds nice but as you see this is just that - a theory, nothing to do with the real world....
    good luck in December

  2. As far as football services are concerned, FE, FI and myself (and also MGB, a service I'll most probably subscribe to next season) indeed all had bad months (to varying degrees of course), but on the other hand, Sports Investor and Shaolin Betting both had good months (I'm subscribed to both) and as they're either still in red for the season but moving in the right directon (SI) or only just recently broke even and started to make some profit (SB), maybe you should consider adding those two services to your mega-portfolio.

I've joined Shaolin Betting on October 15, as a part of my latest strategy of joining a service run by someone who seems to be a smart, careful, well imformed guy, but only after an extremely bad run that can't go on for much longer. This time (and it was the first time I actually went through with this risky strategy) it worked perfectly - the guy's made a -3.5 point loss in the first two months of the season, but a +6 point profit since then (November's been particulary impressive). So yes, if there's an impressive service out there that's currently frustrated by a long losing run, let me know. :)

I've also been keeping an eye on 22 Legs lately, Lakini seems like he definitely knows what he's doing and that's probably another service worth consideration. I've noticed Scottish Football, Goran's Winners and Football-Bets had good months as well and I'd like to know more about Champions League bets if you have a minute or two - I can't seem to find anything about them at SBC. Or maybe I could try with a very hush-hush machine called Google. :)

    cheers,
    skeeve

  3. Hi HB,
Yeh, I was taken out by a lot of services in November but you have to be ready for such moments. As I said my sole aim for December is to eradicate mistakes as they're costing me money. I'd rather give the money to charity than throw it back at the bookies.

  4. Hi Skeeve,
My mega-portfolio is giving me mega-problems right now, but if it's statistically possible you need to be ready for them. I don't live my life expecting bad runs but I'm prepared for them.

As for the services you suggested I think my portfolio is at saturation point but thanks anyway for the suggestions, maybe something for next season. If I had known there would be a lot of overlap for Mr Gekko Bets and Football Investor I would probably have not subscribed to one of them, but it's all extra experience that I can put on the blog so others don't make the same mistakes.

Champions League Bet has some very solid performance and with subscription costs being low it's worth a go in my opinion. I'll try to remember to put a graph up tonight for this season's results.
